Although its always nice to attempt DIY in any form….actually scrap that, I hate DIY!
Even though some people enjoy DIY it can often make things worse, especially with carpet or upholstery cleaning due to range of fibres they contain!
This is why I am trained, as soon as I saw this clients DIY attempt on her upholstery I knew exactly what had happened and why, but most importantly the way to correct it. This sofa was 3/4 months old and and expensive item, due to the usual spillage from children a home attempt to clean had been made and made it much worse!
As you can see from the pictures we corrected this and also protected the upholstery to aid in future cleaning:
